      Came to Mexico from Spain about 1750;
      enlisted 24 Jun 1780 at Villa de Sinaloa;
      name was Velasco but known as Lara in Alta California;
      at San Gabriel 22 July 1781, when started to draw rations and receive pay at Pueblo de Los Angeles;
      decided he was not suited as a farmer, so petitioned to leave;
      left Los Angeles 21 March 1782;
      joined Presidio at Santa Barbara 26 March 1782;
      was sent back to Nayarit when it was discovered his first wife was alive;
      did not return to Alta Californa.
